Program summary
This is a walking tour of Upper Monroe focused on architecture produced by the Rochester Brainery and presented by representatives of the Landmark Society of Western New York.
DATE: Thursday, September 5th
TIME: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
The exact program meetup location in the Upper Monroe neighborhood and other details will be sent to ticketholders just prior to the event date.
Love old buildings but donβt know a Queen Anne from a Dutch Colonial? The Landmark Societyβs Young Urban Preservationists (YUPs for short) are taking you out onto the streets to explore Rochesterβs architectural history in its natural setting.
In this 2-hour outdoor class, weβll walk the Upper Monroe neighborhood and learn the names of early 20th century residential architectural styles; some basic architectural terminology; and how to approximately date the buildings you see every day.
The fee for this program is $25/person to cover expenses. This is not an UMNA fundraiser.
Due to the nature of the program only 25 tickets are available for purchase. TICKETS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.
Participants must be residents or property owners in the Upper Monroe neighborhood but do not have to be members of the Upper Monroe Neighborhood Association.
Please note
This class is an active outdoor walking tour (approximately 1.5 to 2 miles on sidewalks and paved paths). Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather and walking shoes. If youβve attended the Crash Course in American Architectural History classes, this is a great opportunity to put your new knowledge to the test out in the field; however, this class is also great for beginners.
This class is appropriate for ages 14+. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
This program is also listed on our Calendar of Events calendar. Click here to go to the official UMNA Events Calendar.
