# 2024 May 4: Clean & Preen | City of Rochester Clean Sweep Program

#### **Date**:  Saturday, May 4th from 10:00 am until no later than 12:00 pm\*

*\* At 10:00 am we'll provide some simple instructions and distribute trash bags, gloves, etc. Late arrivals are acceptable. **No one will be required to stay until 12:00 pm.***

## Activity Description

One event. *Two efforts!*

UMNA friends and neighbors will gather at [the corner of Monroe Avenue and Rosedale Street on the public sidewalk in front of Brotherhood Of The Cross and Star - 1006 Monroe Avenue (MAP)](https://goo.gl/maps/qy8QvdFMYAR3Q2nm7) at 10:00 am for a brief welcome and instructions.&#x20;

Some people will help preen our "Children's Garden" (pulling out leaves, dead plants from the prior year, etc.) on Laburnam Crescent/Luzerne Street. Others will walk along Monroe Avenue dipping down short sections of streets off Monroe Avenue picking up trash and debris. At least one group will concentrate on Culver Road.

No special skills apply. We're not trimming trees/bushes. We're not cutting grass. We're just picking up debris. This is pretty low skill, light work! Participants working in our community gardens may be using some simple tools and applying some fairly simple skills such as raking. Easy!&#x20;

This is a family-friendly activity. Everyone is welcome. The event will run for two hours but no one has to stay until the end.
