* **DATE:** Thursday, September 5th
* **TIME:** 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
* The exact program meetup location in the Upper Monroe neighborhood and other details will be sent to ticketholders just prior to the event date.
* [Click here for tickets](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/exploring-the-architectural-heritage-of-upper-monroe-tickets-927268704657)

Love old buildings but don’t know a Queen Anne from a Dutch Colonial? The Landmark Society’s Young Urban Preservationists (YUPs for short) are taking you out onto the streets to explore Rochester’s architectural history in its natural setting.

In this 2-hour outdoor class, we’ll walk the Upper Monroe neighborhood and learn the names of early 20th century residential architectural styles; some basic architectural terminology; and how to approximately date the buildings you see every day.

* The fee for this program is $25/person to cover expenses. This is not an UMNA fundraiser.
* Due to the nature of the program only 25 tickets are available for purchase. **TICKETS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.**
* Participants must be residents or property owners in the Upper Monroe neighborhood but do not have to be members of the Upper Monroe Neighborhood Association.

## Please note

This class is an active outdoor walking tour (approximately 1.5 to 2 miles on sidewalks and paved paths). Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather and walking shoes. If you’ve attended the Crash Course in American Architectural History classes, this is a great opportunity to put your new knowledge to the test out in the field; however, this class is also great for beginners.

This class is appropriate for ages 14+. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

This program is also listed on our [Events & Meetings](/events-and-meetings.md) calendar.
