🧹Monroe Avenue is CLEAN & WELL MAINTAINED
The UMNA multi-year Monroe Avenue revitalization effort is comprised of seven goals. The goals are expressed with aspirational language; language that describes the future we want to see.
People traveling along and across Monroe Avenue experience a clean streetscape with well maintained properties
1. Monroe Avenue is free of trash & debris
Action beginning in 2024
Participate in the City of Rochester's program known as “Clean Sweep” on May 4, 2024. UMNA puts it's unique spin on this program calling it "Clean & Preen" so that we can attach some spring preening around our community gardens on and near Monroe Avenue. More on this topic under Monroe Avenue is a PLACE & a DESTINATION.
Time frame: "Clean & Preen" is a one day event and will be completed on May 4, 2024.
UPDATE: Dozens of volunteers from the neighborhood around Monroe County picked up trash and debris from every nearly every street in Upper Monroe during "Clean Sweep" on May 4th. Due to anticipated poor weather work on the Children's Garden was postponed until May 11, 2024.
Partner with “Walking For Rochester” to tidy up Monroe Ave on a regular basis over the warm weather months.
Time frame: Once every 4-6 weeks until September 30, 2024

2. Properties along Monroe Avenue are well maintained and in compliance with applicable City codes and regulations

Partner & problem-solve with the City of Rochester's Southeast Neighborhood Service Center to bring properties along Monroe Avenue into code compliance
Time frame: Ongoing
Partner with property owners along Monroe Avenue to support their efforts to bring their properties into code compliance
Time frame: Ongoing
Publicly recognize exemplary property owners with an annual award.
Time frame: Early June, 2024 and annually thereafter.
