It's important to note nearly all of Pinnacle Hill is privately owned. No portion of Pinnacle Hill is parkland. In fact, only a very small section of Pinnacle Hill is publicly owned! Incident Timeline

  • At a point late in 2025 neighbors reported the presence of tents on Pinnacle Hill; this after noticing evidence of the same situation in 2024 that subsequently resolved very quickly without intervention. Neighbors tend to see this sort of thing come and go on an irregular basis.

  • At about the same time in 2025 the owner of a vacant three acre parcel fronting on Field Street (commonly used as a point of entry for hiking on Pinnacle Hill) posted "No Trespassing" signs on their property. While that owner has not disclosed their motivation for posting signs neighbors assumed a relationship between the signs and the tents.

  • These circumstances stimulated UMNA action and advocacy.

  • This topic was discussed in a ZOOM meeting held on December 9, 2025. Because this meeting focused mostly on Monroe Avenue & Field Street | ONGOING complete notes and a recording of the meeting are posted on that page.

  • In short, because this incident on Pinnacle Hill occurred on private property UMNA and neighbors agreed to reach out to those property owners for concerted action.
