Highland Award for commercial or rental property ownership in Upper Monroe

This award was created in 2023.

Given to a property owner who has done an outstanding job of improving, developing or maintaining one or more commercial or rental properties in the Upper Monroe neighborhood. Given annually.

2024 Recipients - Meredith Pogal & Paul Sussman

In recognition of the recent comprehensive high quality renovation & exterior landscaping and ongoing maintenance of their three story residential building located at the corner of Monroe Avenue and Rosedale Street.

2025 Recipients - Melanie & Patrick Berl

In recognition of Patrick's and Melanie's redevelopment of two parcels that became available after two buildings were destroyed by fire in 2023. They combined the parcels into one and built a brand new two family home on the site now know as 319-321 Rosedale Street. This is the first example of a new home being built in Upper Monroe in many decades.

In addition, the award recognizes Patrick's and Melanie's many years upgrading and managing their several rental properties and respectfully working with their tenants.
