Ladybug Day is a program of the South East Area Coalition (SEAC) developed in collaboration with Wide Water Gardens. Ladybug Day is co-sponsored by the Upper Monroe Neighborhood Association.

Event Overview

This is a casual, neighborhood-based, family-oriented community building event with food, music, art and lots of fun activities. The event is open to the public. Tickets are not required. Everyone is welcome!

All listed times are approximate.

Porta potty facilities will be available on-site during Ladybug Day.

GENERAL LAYOUT

CHILDREN'S PARADE

  • 10:30 AM - Line-up begins at the NW corner of Monroe Avenue and Rosedale Street

  • 10:45 AM - Parade begins. Group will "march" down Rosedale Street to Wide Water Gardens (approximately 800 feet or .15 mile). The group will be on public sidewalks at all times and will NOT cross any streets during the parade.

LADYBUG DAY 2025 EVENT BEGINS WHEN THE PARADE ARRIVES AT 11:00 AM

  • All community artists, organizations, business and groups in tents and at tables will be available from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM

FOOD & REFRESHMENTS

Free water and lemonade will be available.

FUN, FAMILY-ORIENTED ACTIVITIES & PERFORMANCES

  • Ladybugs will be released into Wide Water Gardens after the Children's Parade finishes up

  • FREE face painting by Arlene’s Costume Shop will be available until 2:00 PM

  • 11:15 AM - "Storytime in the Gardens" by Miss Kassie from the Monroe Branch Library.

  • Pirate Toy Fund will GIVE AWAY toys to children!

NUMEROUS CRAFT ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN WILL BEGIN

  • Fairy house building

  • Tin pounding

  • Rock and ornament painting

12:30 PM - GENERAL WELCOME, THANKS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Visits are expected by the Rochester Police Department's Mounted Division as well as the Rochester Fire Department during the afternoon.

1:30 PM - Zoo Mobile will depart from Lady Bug Day

2:00 PM - Arlene’s face painting services will end

PARKING, ACCESSIBILITY

NOTE: this access method is NOT wheelchair accessible and is NOT appropriate for anyone with limited mobility.


Walk-in, limited mobility and wheel chair access

If you have limited mobility or if you are in a wheelchair, parking in close proximity to the site is extremely limited. You may be forced to drop off those with limited mobility or a wheelchair and park at some distance on a nearby street or at the Culver Road Armory (see above).

Parking is available at the Culver Road Armory. You will be able to walk to and from your parking spot via a footpath connected to the event site. <>.

The best way to access Ladybug Day on foot or in a wheelchair is from the main gate at 645 Rosedale Street <>.
